Sure… I might be over-reacting, but losing a part of your identity can be disarming at times.

Recently I moved everything over to being an Arkansas Resident, which officially would make me no longer a resident of Texas.
Yes, Texas is revered and hated by many people and I’m not crazy about Rick Perry, but being Texan has always has been a part of me. I sent a panicked text to many friends and family about losing my Texanity. Some of the responses were laughable, here were a few.
“Quick! put on your cowboy boots and eat a steak”
“Dual Citizenship?”
“Ew, I still love you!”
“You’ve fallen in love and found out she’s actually your cousin?”
“Been There…”
My mom gave me a counselor-like (because she is one) answer, and then another friend called me a Martyr. Two sides of the spectrum I’d rather not explore further.
So although I’m glad I’m in Arkansas if anyone knows of a way to keep my Texan status without moving back please inform me. I don’t plan to wear the shirt you see above you for obvious reasons. But I also won’t be sounding the cheer of Sooey Pig anytime soon. So most of my Texanity is intact.

So fellow Texan’s out there living a life outside of their own state, stay strong and hope that the plot of the TV show Jericho doesn’t happen.
