Quick Read

There’s this little thing called quick reading codes or for short QR codes, which are themselves quick, readable codes that anyone can scan and get the information that the person is trying to express.  Below is a little thing for you to see if you can figure out.  Something very famous is expressed in the code below.

If you have a smart phone I suggest you find an application that will scan QR Codes.  I’m going to make and start using them for specific things like contact info, but this one’s just for fun.

Camera Experiment

What Is It

I, for some reason, have become infatuated with disposable cameras.  I have a Polaroid, and I plan to use it more often.  But I have this one disposable camera that I take two photos with every month, and only two photos.  I was telling a friend about this, and he gave me a great idea.  Why not send a camera to other people.  I thought, and really liked the idea.

So…

I took 6 Kodak FunSaver Cameras and sent them to 6 friends of mine.  They will in turn send the cameras to another person, and so on and so forth until the entire 27 photos are used up.  Then I ask the last person to send the camera back to me.

The instructions I included inside the package explain everything they do, and I promise to send them a copy of their photo, plus all the other photos as well.  I’m excited to see what happens.  The packages should have made it to their first destination by now, and we will see how many I get back.

Art

The friend who told me about it said that it was kinda like art.  I’m excited to see what happens.  It’s something that if it completely finishes then will make an impression on 156 people alone.  I hope that people really get into it, and even do it themselves some day.  I don’t know what to call it yet, but I think it’s an experiment at the moment a mix between chain letter, flat stanley, and I don’t really know what.

I’ve sent my little cameras out.  Let’s hope I get all of them back.

My Top 10 People – 5. Leonardo da Vinci

5. Leonardo Da Vinci

Many people recognize things that we often will attribute to Leonardo Da Vinci, but not really know much about the man that was Da Vinci.  A visionary some would call him or a genius, and I have to say I do agree.  He laid the early groundwork for future minds to create some of the things that we use today in modern society and science.

This Renaissance man is regarded today as a polymath πολυμαθής (having learned much) like most ancient scientist.  He was not restricted by anyone discipline he studied everything.

His Art is often what he is known for best.  The Mona Lisa and The Last Supper are some of his most famous works of all time.  They are world renowned and are the speculation of many of Dan Brown’s books.

Da Vinci is seen as way ahead of his time in conceptualization of scientific inventions that wouldn’t be built for another 400-500 years.  Here’s a few things he thought about.  A helicopter, tank, solar power, calculator, plate tectonics, and a smattering of other smaller inventions and studies.

He greatly advanced the fields of optometry, civil engineering, optics, hydrodynamics and anatomy.  Da Vinci was more than just an artist he was truly talented and way ahead of his time.  It’s hard to believe that he was able to think of these things before they even existed and lay that groundwork for future scientist.

His designs were almost spot on, and others we have not even been able to think of recreating due to their complexities.  Da Vinci was a genius by some marks and was able to think outside of the box.  This is why the man was nothing less that great and is top 10 on my list of people.
