Is Saturday Night aLive again?

I’m not always one to talk about things that pertain to the entertainment industry unless it is to criticize it.   I have a question/thought for myself.  Is Saturday Night Live back?  Is it funny again?  Or am I just wanting it to be? I have a few reasons why it may be on a resurgence or it may be just because its just a small burst that will eventually turn into a bust.

Jimmy Fallon

I’m not a big fan of him.  I’m still in awe that he has his own Late Night program, but then again I’m surprised that anyone finds Jay Leno funny too. Once Jimmy Fallon left SNL I suddenly became a whole lot more interested in watching.  He would always laugh during skits, and his impersonations were awful.  I think Jimmy Fallon must have killed someone or done some tremendous favor to get on the show who has had the likes of Steve Martin and Chris Farley on it.  No offense Jimmy, but overall…

Good Riddance.

He’s pretty funny.  Some might say he’s Boss.

New President

As much as everyone like a good Bush joke I can say no matter what side you were on you we’re getting a little bored with the jokes.  He live on as one of the presidents with one of the lowest approval rating and also Will Ferrell’s impression of him.

But now we have a fresh face in the White House.  As much everyone likes him in the entertainment industry he will be made fun of.  Bush rejuvenated SNL for a while, but it didn’t last.  We will see what happens with this one.

Overall I want SNL to get better, and I imagine I’m just a hopeful optimist.

10. Fred Rogers (Better known as Mister Rogers)

The song, “it’s a wonderful day in the neighborhood” ring throughout my childhood. The ting tings of the trolley coming through his living room, and always wondering why he always took off his shoes.

Rogers was to many the neighbor they never had on the other side of the TV screen. He was abundantly tolerant and loving to all he met and not one person that didn’t know that man personally disliked him.

His life is overshadowed by his TV career on Mister Rogers neighborhood, but he was much more than a guy in a sweater on PBS Saturday mornings. This ordained Presbyterian Pastor was exactly that, a pastor; but not in the traditional sense of the word.

He pastored everyone, everywhere he went, and everybody he knew.

His loving and compassionate attitude towards society made other people think about why they were alive and what exactly was there purpose. A news story was published about a car being stolen at the PBS TV studios, and it was Rogers car. When the burglars found out it was his they returned it with a note saying, “Sorry, If we knew it was yours we wouldn’t have taken it”.

His colorblind(literally colorblind) attitude towards life made him a mighty force for compassion among his encounters. Throughout his career on TV he faced topics from War to ABC’s.

There is so much more I could say about this man. He shows how to love. He shows us that God loves us just the way we are, so why shouldn’t we love each-other and ourselves.

Some people get it. Fred Rogers did. “Won’t you be my neighbor?”
